Staff and Faculty: How to update Windows devices after changing or resetting your password – all campuses

It is important to update all of your computers and devices after you have changed your USNH password. Although some applications will prompt you for your new password there are occasions when you are not prompted and, without even knowing it, your device is making multiple attempts to connect to the campus network without success. After multiple unsuccessful attempts, your account will be locked as a security measure, designed to protect your account from unauthorized attempts.

1.  Follow these steps to update the password on your University issued Windows computer:

Once you have successfully changed your password via https://myAccount.usnh.edu

If you are On Campus (any) on a wired connection or connected to the Eduroam Wireless Network:

  • Lock your computer (Ctrl+Alt+Del > Lock). Do not restart your computer yet
  • Unlock computer using your NEW USNH Password
  • Reboot your computer and log in with your NEW USNH Password

If you are Off Campus:

Log in to your computer with your OLD USNH password

  • Connect to the USNH VPN (Pulse Secure) with your NEW USNH password.
  • PSU users click here
  • KSC users click here
  • Lock your computer (Ctrl+Alt+Del>Lock). Do not restart your computer yet
  • Unlock computer using your NEW USNH Password
  • Reboot your computer and log in with your new USNH Password

2. For any Windows Computers that you use to connect to any USNH services

Clear the Credential Manager by following these steps:

  • Go to Start > Control Panel > Credential Manager OR go to Start and type "credential manager" and open Credential Manager from the results
  • Look for any items associated with UNH, USNH services or your specific campus domain (granite.edu for example)
  • Click arrow next to each item and select to "remove from vault" or "remove"

Check your browsers for saved passwords and clear them:

  • In Internet Explorer: Go to Tools>Internet Options>General Tab>Browsing History>Delete make sure the box in front of saved Passwords is selected, click Delete
  • In Firefox: go to Tools>Options>Security Tab. Click Saved Passwords and remove any that are associated with your USNH Account
  • In Chrome: In the drop down menu on the right side of the address bar go to Settings, then on the left go to the Settings again. On the right side at the bottom, go to Advanced Settings, then go to Privacy. In the Passwords and Forms section go to Manage passwords


3. If your USNH Password is saved in any applications on mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets, update these devices with your new USNH password.
