Connecting a Game Console

Connecting a Game Console

Gaming devices (PlayStation, XBox, Wii) need to be registered on the UNH network and should use the UNH-Public wireless network. Follow these instructions to get your gaming devices online.

Using a computer on the UNH network:

Register Device:

  1. Go to
  2. Click on Non-Browser Device Registration
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions to register your device.
  4. Wait a few minutes for registration to complete.

Connect to UNH Public:

  1. Connect your gaming console to the UNH-Public wireless network.

Having Problems?

It may take a few minutes for the network to properly identify a device as a game console.   After registering your device and connecting to UNH-Public, if you still experience connectivity issues,  wait a few minutes and then turn your game console off and on again, or toggle your network connection, to establish a new network connectivity session.

*** In some situations a game console will not connect to the UNH Network due to previously-configured network settings. This typically occurs during winter break or between semesters when devices return to the UNH network and may need to be re-registered on the UNH network to connect correctly.  In some cases resetting the network settings for the device may be required in order to stop the device from attempting to use incorrect connection settings.

It is known that some gaming devices are not recognized as gaming devices and must be added manually to the UNH network.  In the event you continue to have connectivity issues, you may contact the UNH IT Service Desk at 603- 862-4242 or submit a ticket on the  "Report An Issue" web form.  Please be sure to include the MAC address of your device; your physical location (i.e. dorm building); contact information and any issues with connecting your game console to the UNH network.
