When you add a page to a SharePoint Online site, you add and customize webparts, which are the building blocks of your page. You can add text, images, files, video, dynamic content and more using the web parts listed in this article.
Creating a Page
- Click on the cog wheel in the upper right of the screen.
- Choose Add a Page
- Name your page relevant to the content it is designed for.
Note: This page name is used for the creation of the URL, so be sure that it is correct. If you rename the page, all links will break and must be changed in all locations.
- You may choose to have a picture in the banner or not using the menu to the left.
Add a Webpart
- Go to the page where you want to add a webpart

- If the page is not already in edit mode, click Edit at the top right of the page.
- Hover your mouse above or below an existing webpart and you’ll see a line with a circled + .
- Click the + and you’ll see a list of web parts to choose from. To easily find the webpart you’re looking for, start typing in the Search box. Or, click Expand Button in the top right to show a larger view of webparts by category. You can also sort the webparts in this view.
Move or Remove a Webpart
- If your page is not already in edit mode, click Edit at the top right of the page.
- Hover over the web part you want to move or remove, and you’ll see a small toolbar on the left of the webpart.
- To move the web part, click the Move webpart button (four arrows icon) and drag the webpart where you want it on your page.
- To remove the web part, click Delete webpart button (trashcan icon)
Creating a News Post
Note: News can be seen by anyone who has access to your site from the SharePoint landing page.
- From Home site of your site, if you have the news webpart added, click add.
- Enter a name for your news post.
- Add relevant Webparts into your announcement, then save your news announcement.
