Playing CDs in the Classroom

To play an audio CD in a classroom:

  • Using your laptop:

    • Insert the CD into your laptop disc drive.
    • Connect the HDMI or VGA audio cable (Headphone jack) to your laptop.
    • Press the Laptop, HDMI, or VGA source button on the touch panel of the instructor station. 
    • Adjust CD volume within the music player software first, then the computer operating system volume, then the AV touch panel volume.
    • Verify that Audio Mute function on touch panel is not enabled.
    • Most new laptops do not have built in CD drives, so it may be necessary to use a separate disc drive which can be plugged into the computer. 
  • Using the DVD or Blu-Ray player (if available):

    • Insert the CD into the DVD or Blu-Ray player.
    • Press the DVD or Blu-Ray button on the touch panel.
    • Adjust volume levels using the AV touch panel.
    • Verify that Audio Mute function on touch panel is not enabled.
  • Using the installed instructor computers:

    • Select the PC or Mac source on the AV touch panel.
    • Make sure the computer is powered on and awake.
    • Insert the CD into the Dell or Mac Disc drive in the podium or equipment rack.
    • The CD should play automatically, if not, browse to the CD using Finder (Mac) or My Computer (Windows).
    • Adjust CD volume within the music player software first, then the computer operating system volume, then the AV touch panel volume.
    • Verify that Audio Mute function on touch panel is not enabled.
