Canvas: Mobile Applications (Apps) Functionality

Task: This article explains the application functionality of the Canvas on Apple and Android devices.

Instructions:

Basic Functions

For General Use:

The Canvas app allows you to access your USNH Canvas courses from your tablet or mobile device

Once the Canvas application is opened, students and instructors will get a menu to access courses, calendar, to-do, notification, and message menus.  Users are able to view their assignments and course announcements in the courses menu.  Users can only view their calendar events, but cannot edit or change them in the calendar tab.  The to-do tab will allow users to see a list of assignments.  Similar to the calendar, this to-do list list is specifically for your Canvas course related content.  The notifications tab lets users know if any new material has been made.  The message tab allows for the reception of messages sent by the instructors or other students.

Application Limitations:

The Canvas app is unable to accept assignments for submission. Additionally, the SpeedGrader app needs to be installed as well for instructors to grade assignments.

Additional Applications That Improve Canvas Functions

Speed Grader:

The SpeedGrader app is an instructor specific tool to help grade from tablets.  Instructors can use the SpeedGrader app on iOS tablets (iPads) and all Android devices.
