M365: Updating apps on your Mobile devices for the Unified M365 environment


Prior to the migration to the unified M365 environment, many users had identities in one or more M365 campus environments which resulted in having accounts and licenses assigned to them from each campus with which they were affiliated.  This caused duplication, as well as additional licensing cost, and hindered the ability for users to collaborate with colleagues outside of their primary campus environments.


The new unified M365 environment has consolidated these multiple identities into a single identity for each user in a single unified environment.  This single identity, (Microsoft calls it a UPN - user principle name) is what allows you to use the various M365 tools to collaborate with colleagues across the University System of NH.   

Therefore when setting up your OneDrive, Teams (or Word, Excel, etc.) apps on Mobile, you will need to set these apps up with your UPN Identity as follows:

1.  Go to the Settings in the M365 app of your choice. (images below represent OneDrive Mobile app (iOS) as an example):

2.  Select the icon with your initials (Or profile picture) in the upper left corner:

3.  Choose the campus account from the selection across the top:

4. Click on the arrow to the right of your campus-based account:

5.  Choose Sign out.  If you have multiple accounts associated with the USNH schools, (ie. a PSU account, a GSC account, etc.)  may have to repeat steps 2 - 5 for each account.



6.  Once you have removed all the accounts associated with the app, you will be promoted to add an account.  On the Microsoft Sign In page, enter the account associated with your UPN,  not your campus based email address.  Enter it as Username@USNH.edu and tap the arrow. (you must use your username/NetID NOT your email address ex:  abc9876@usnh.edu )

6.  You will be presented to the unified M365 log-in page.  Sign in with your Username and Password:

You will passed back to the Mobile app you were working in, and you will begin to see the data syncing to the app.  Depending upon the amount of data and history you have with that app, it may take a few hours to fully sync.

Use these instructions to connect to other these M365 apps on your mobile device.
