Classrooms on the PSU campus are standardized in three configurations as follows:
Tier One (BYOD) spaces are typically equipped with either a ceiling mounted projector and wall mounted projection screen OR a large flat panel LCD display. Wall or table mounted control systems are used to control audio levels and change projector inputs. In some cases these locations also have a DVD player; however there is no computer provided. Users will need to provide their own laptop, or other device to connect to the projector.
Tier Two (basic cart) spaces are typically equipped with either a ceiling mounted projector and wall mounted projection screen OR a large flat panel LCD display. Other audio-visual equipment is typically secured within a small rack system mounted in a cart, podium or built-in cabinet. The rack typically contains, a Dell or Macintosh desktop computer, a dvd/blu-ray player, and necessary control systems. In addition, the cart is equipped with a connection which allows users to connect their own laptop or other device and a cart or wall mounted control system to be used to control audio levels and change projector inputs.
Tier Three (tier two Plus+) spaces are locations that contain the standard AV configuration found in a Tier Two classroom, but are augmented with additional technology tools, such as SmartBoards, microphones, wall and/or ceiling mounted cameras and Zoom capabilities. The additional augmentation found in these spaces is installed as part of the initial space design in response to specified pedagogical or administrative need. This augmentation typically requires specialized programming and enhanced audio-visual control systems.
