ESET and MacOS Issues

UNH has become aware of potential issues between older versions of ESET and MacOS. This can contribute to instability of the operating system, including, but not limited to, crashing, freezing, or a loss of data. If you are a MacOS user and are experiencing any of these symptoms, check the current version of ESET running on your Mac and update if needed.

The MacOS’s most affected by this are 10.13.6 (High Sierra) and 10.14.1 (Mojave). Please note that a Mac operating system upgrade is not required.

The current version of ESET is 6.8.400.0. This version is compatible with MacOS versions 10.9.x (Mavericks) and newer.

How to check what version of ESET you have installed

  1. Click the ESET icon, generally found at the top of the screen on the Apple Menu bar.

  1. Select About at the bottom of the menu to open the ESET information screen

  1. The latest version, as of 6/2020, is 6.8.400.0. If you have an earlier version of the product, and you are experiencing any of the issues listed above, it is advised that you install the latest version from the UNH file-share. Best practice recommendations are to run a back-up before upgrading.

If, after installing the latest version of ESET, your device continues to exhibit symptoms as listed above, please contact your IT representative, or call the Service Desk at (603) 862-4242
