Teams: Clearing Cache

Summary:

Sometimes it becomes necessary to purge the contents of cache in order for the application to function properly.  This article will walk you through that process

Windows Teams Cache

To clear your Microsoft Teams cache, you will need to delete files from within the Teams app data folder.

1. Quit Teams.

2. Press the Windows Key + R, and in the pop-up window, type "%appdata%" and press Enter. Then, Navigate to Microsoft > Teams. Once in the directory, you will need to delete all the files and folders within the following folders:

Application Cache

Blob_storage

Cache

Databases

GPUCache

IndexedDB

Local Storage

tmp

 

Once this step is complete, restart your computer and your Microsoft Teams chat cache will have cleared successfully.

Mac

1. Quit Microsoft Teams.

2. Delete files in following folders.

“~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Application Cache/Cache”

“~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/blob_storage”

“~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Cache”

“~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/databases”

“~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/GPUCache”

“~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/IndexedDB”

“~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Local Storage”

“~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/tmp”

3. Restart Microsoft Teams.
