Using Microsoft Defender Antivirus Software on macOS

Updating

  1. Open Microsoft Defender by clicking the ESET logo icon on the menu bar and clicking Open Microsoft Defender ATP
  1. Click on the "Check for Updates" link in the lower right-hand corner. This will show the status of your current setup. Click the "Check for Updates..." to run the update. Any updates will be installed automatically

 How to Run a Scan

  1. Open Microsoft Defender by clicking the ESET logo icon on the menu bar and clicking Open Microsoft Defender ATP

 

  1. Under the "Current Threats" section, click on Quick Scan. Once the scan is complete, any additional steps needed will be listed under the "Virus & Threat protection settings" section.
  2. If any viruses are found, the results will show "Threats found", and the virus or threat will be displayed in a large, white box. Click on the virus name, select "Quarantine" from the "Action Options" drop down, then click the "Start actions" button. Repeat if needed until all viruses/threats have been quarantined.
  3. You may close the application after all viruses have been quarantined
