What Sort of Speeds Can I Get on UNH Wifi?

The short answer is, it depends on your machine; its wifi card; and the number of devices accessing the wireless access point (AP) at the same location, at the same time. Optimal conditions with the fastest wireless card could get over 400 Mb/s. Practical terms will likely see 125 Mb/s or 50 Mb/s, depending if you have a 5 Ghz or 2.4 Ghz capable device, respectively.

UNH has a very dense AP (access point) deployment in all residential and academic buildings and we are confident the wireless network is capable of meeting our users’ needs.  If you wish to see what your transfer speeds are, visit https://speedtest.net to perform a test.

If you are experiencing issues with your wifi service you are *strongly* encouraged to contact the UNH Service Desk at (603) 862-4242 or click on the link to  "Report An Issue"     There are many factors that can be detrimental to wifi service and many are manageable by the connecting device.
